Responsibilities: Examines and treats patients independently and in autonomous collaboration with other health care professionals. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department’s policies and procedures. Assesses individual and/or family health status through appropriate health histories, physical examinations, interviews and diagnostic studies. Diagnoses common acute illness or injuries and manages stable chronic illness in collaboration with physicians and within established protocols. Collaborates with appropriate personnel for implementation of program and the facility's goals and objectives, policies and procedures. Ensures proper illness and injury care and disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
