Holistic Nursing

Holistic nursing is the practice of healing the patient as a whole. Holistic nursing pulls from nursing training and expertise to help nurses treat the totality of the patient - mind, body, and spirit. Holistic nursing is not meant to negate traditional or conventional medical treatments, it serves as a complement to help patients meet their greatest healing potential.

In addition to practicing traditional nursing skills, holistic nurses train in alternative healing practices and high-touch modalities. They may focus more on alternate forms of treatment to fulfill a patient's physiological, psychological, and spiritual needs

Holistic Nursing is a new and growing nursing specialty for many nurses. To learn more about this exciting form of nursing, please visit the American Holistic Nurses Association web site at http://www.ahna.org.
